Jin Samurai Champloo
They've both been chased. People wanting their heads, they've both had to run while still having their own lives ahead of them. They've both known seclusion, though of different types, and they've both dedicated themselves to their technique and ability. Jin and Gyro are incredibly similar people and it's both why they're so damn awkward around eachother and close at the same time.
A life for a life, that's how it started. Jin saved his then Gyro saved his back. They already fought alongside eachother before they ever got intimate, though it seemed to be easy to get closer once there was some liquor in either of them. It didn't help that Jin was so slender and pretty to Gyro, but really it was just something about how easy it was to be around Jin for Gyro. He doesn't know it's because they've lived such similar lives, but they just felt like- kindred spirits.
Already with nicknames for eachother, Signore Samurai and Cowboy-san, they hit it off quick and since then Gyro's found it often that he had the other man in his life. At first there was worry though, drinking with him, he got touchier than he meant to, and wasn't sure if that ended up fucking up a potential friendship. After all, his only experience with gaining a friend was Johnny and that always just- felt like fate. Effortless. This felt different, felt like he was messing it up already which proved to be utter bullshit. He can't really imagine not having this guy by his side when things get rough here, and he doesn't mind having him by his side when he wakes up in the morning either.
Jin's a good person, that alone made him someone Gyro wanted in his life, but more and more is he getting the idea that Jin really does just NEED people in his life. It's not his business, what's happened in Jin's past, but when Jin tried to kill himself... it makes you curious. Makes you worry. Gyro isn't the type to worry and still he doesn't know what to do about Jin. They lack communication is what it comes down to. So while Gyro cares about him, sees something like himself in Jin, he just... doesn't know how to deal with him. Should he be doing something more? He always thought that if and when he got friends they would just sort of, ya know, work. That's how friendships appeared, that you just work with certain people and that's what makes you friends. He's learning now that maybe sometimes you do have to actually talk and work things out.
Too bad talking about shit is tough for him, especially when he feels emotionally pressured.
